A nightmare is considered to be a bad dream - causes can be stress and glucose according to certain psychologists.

A night terror is a type of disordered sleep which mainly impacts children. It occurs when the brain is in the mid phase of entering rem sleep, which can cause the child to scream or squirm in terror (hence night terror). A key difference is that one cannot remember what happens in a night terror, while people have a chance of remembering what happens in a nightmare.
