If a city of 10,000 experiences 100 births, 30 deaths, 10 immigrants, and 20 emigrants in the course of a year, what is its net annual percentage growth rate?

    100 births and 10 immigrants will add to the population

    30 deaths and 20 emigrants will take away from the population

    An emigrant is someone who leaves the country while an immigrant is someone who comes and permanently settles into the country.

    Therefore, 110 people are added to the population, and 50 are to be subtracted. The net growth is 110 - 50 = 60 people.

    60/10,000 = 0.006 = 0.6% annual percentage growth rate
