    A. average = 2542.5mg

    B. The 5th day intake should be less than 1330mg

    Explanation:

    Given the daily intake to be : 3005, 2700, 2315, 2150

    Average = (3005 + 2700 + 2315 + 2150) / 4

    Average = 10170/4

    = 2542.5 mg

    Let the 5th day intake be X

    (X + 10,170) / 5 <2300

    X + 10,170 <5 (2300)

    X< 11,500 - 10,170

    X < 1330mg

    His average for 4 days is 2542.5 mg

    Intake of 5th day has to be less than 1330 mg

    Explanation:

    In order to find the average we take the sum of intakes for 4 day ans then divide it by total number of day which is 4 days.

    Average = (2150 + 3005 + 2700 + 2315) / 4

    Average = 10170/4

    Average = 2542.5 mg

    To find the 5th day intake such that average is below 2300 mg:

    Let 5th day intake = x

    We apply the same method to find the average by taking the sum of intakes for 5 days and then dividing the total with 5 days now. This average has to be less than 2300 mg therefore we use the following method:

    (2150 + 3005 + 2700 + 2315 + x) / 5 < 2300

    2300 = (10170 + x) / 5 < 2300

    10170 + x < 11500

    x < 11500 - 10170

    x < 1330 mg
