What happened following the decision in brown v. board of education

Eight years after the U. S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional, in the 1954 case of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, he penned this cartoon expressing his dismay at the country's slow progress toward educational integration.

In the Brown vs. Board of Education court case, judges ruled educational segregation as unconstitutional because it violated the 14th amendment right of equal citizenship regardless of race. After this case, desegregation was put into place, and people began the fight of the equal rights movement.
