This is totally false, Picasso did use inspiration from works of the past. Pablo Picasso many times visited Paris, on one of those occasions he met another known painter named Henri Matisse with whom he had conversations about his paintings and together they visited works of art and sculptures that served both of them for inspiration. Another Picasso artist friend was Andre Derain and Maurice de Vlaminck, all of whom served as inspiration for Pablo Picasso combined with his fascination for African art.
