The answer is the option A) status of women in general and women artists from that era. The society of the nineteenth century worked with very strict rules of protocol. This especially affected the ladies of the upper class. They had a good time, a good life, but ... this very life could be a prison. The mission of the woman was to manage the house, raise the children and nothing else. Painting, playing a musical instrument, writing books, were activities that were considered a hobby, because a lady should not work or have a profession.
