    During the Baroque period, composers use key signatures B. to avoid harsh-sounding keys. Harsh-sounding keys are accidental sounds were played in order to adjust the pattern of whole and half steps, and these sounds sometimes sounded quite roughly. Key signatures were supposed to minimize tese accidentals.
