Explain how light divides a solid object into two parts.

    When water is pulled out through a leaf at the top of a plant via transpiration, the rest of the water molecules in the xylem are under tension and are pulled up the plant stem (or tree trunk), like water moving up a straw. The fancy name for this is the cohesion-tension theory.
