Mark Rothko developed in 1949 a pictorial format of rectangular clouds of color and symmetrical on top of one another. This form of expressionism has rectangles with the same width that is filling the canvas edge to edge from top to bottom. It is a kind of visual language showing elemental emotions and poignancy.
