    Lester young was an American Jazz saxophonist and was born in the year August 27, 1909.

    He was a member of Count Basie's orchestra and sometimes a clarinetist. He was nicknamed by Billie as Prez. He was known as president of Jazz and he led a revolution on tenor saxophone which influenced many generations to follow his footsteps.

    He was the most outstanding soloist in the Basie's band and he was distinguished for liner style of playing which convey more progressive harmonic implications in his choice of notes. His notes were more linear than Hawkins.

    He began to phrase his tones along the customary 4 bar and 8 bar boundaries lending his sound a more relaxed fluidity.

    He floated is tones as though defying gravity. He was know for his outstanding performance and died March 15, 1959.
