Mostly done by guitarist Jimmy page, both jimmy and Robert Plant (singer) listened to blues legends, such as Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson.

Page's Guitar licks are heavily influenced by blues guitarists of the 1930's and 1950's but with a more violent because of the added distortion to the sound of the band.
