Why do they say homophobic people have homophobia, when its not a phobia?

    Because when you are homophobic that's what the type of phobia you are afraid of and the the phobia is what it is

    A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation, so they have anxiety or fear of homosexuals. It sounds weird, but sadly, it is what it is.
