A ballad is a poem or a form of verse that is set to music. Ballads have a very long history and is not confined to a single culture. Ballad actually started in the folk songs and later it is found in modern musics as well. A typical type of ballad will contain a poem with four stanzas. During the romantic movement of poetry in the 18th century the ballads got a fresh lease of life.
