False. Pop still exists in the 21st century. It is a basic genre of music that forms other genres (e. g. RNB, Rock, hiphop). The styles and the melody of music have changed but the basis of it all is Pop Music that originated in the earlier years of the music industry. Pop music originated in the Western world between the 1950s and 1960s.
