Why do you think scientists are not pursuing stem cell research and treatments to reduce deaths from infectious disease?

    The major hurdle to stem cell research in humans is due to the moral and ethical issues weighs on it. Since the research involves manipulating the blastocyst after fertilization of ova and sperm, it raises controversy especially to a society that believes that life begins at conception. To them, the interference with the blastocyst is murderous. Additionally, the long-term effects of manipulating genes are not well understood.
