The sequence best representing the relationship between DNA and the traits of an organism is: DNA base sequence, amino acid sequence, protein shape, protein function, trait.

Through the different steps of gene expression, the genetic information in our DNA material is translated into mRNA molecules which is then decoded into a specific amino acid sequence. This amino acid sequence constitutes a polypeptide which is then folded and modified into a three-dimensional structure (tertiary). As a result, protein has its final shape which determines its function. Finally, the protein's function is directly involved in the expression of a specific trait.
