A trait has two alleles, which are represented by p and q. if p = 0.07, what is q?

    Alleles, or 'traits' as it is commonly called, may be inherited to you from your parents. But only one of those will successfully transfer to you. If your father has green eyes (allele 1) and your mother has blue eyes (allele 2), you can only get either one of those. Hence, the the probability of two alleles happening is 1. Therefore, q = 1-p = 1-0.07 = 0.93.
