Is there multiple choice or free response? If free response, you should speak calmly and collected, making sure not to scare the parents or the child if they are present. Be as detailed as possible, make lists, make a schedule or plan, schedule doctors visits and checkups, do everything to make them feel comfortable with the switch. I believe all pediatricians should offer flyers of information on how to properly deal with these situations, so instead of panicking, the parents are ready to tackle the situation.
