Why are gills typically external and lungs typically internal? (you may enter up to 150 characters.) your answer?

    Gill are usually put into a series of plates and may be internal as in crabs and fish and other living things in the sea. Gills are on the outside so they can filter the air out of the water if they had internal gills/lungs they would breath in the just water and most likely die from drowning.
