The deoxygenated blood enters the heart through the superior and inferior vena cava and into the right atrium. the blood then travels through the right atrioventricular (AV) or tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. from there it goes through the pulmonary semilunar valve and into the pulmonary artery to be carried to the lungs to become oxygenated.

therefore the deoxygenated blood will travel through:

    • the superior and inferior vena cava

    • the right atrium

    • the atrioventricular/tricuspid valve

    • the pulmonary semilunar valve

    • the pulmonary artery
