A bar magnet is a permanent magnet, while an electromagnet is a temporary magnet. Why is an electromagnet temporary?

    An electromagnet is only temporary because electromagnets do not work without electricity running to it.

    Bar magnets are permanent because of the magnetic field that Earth has.
