    Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT)

    Electroconvulsive therapy is a procedure, in which brief electric currents are passed through the brain to deliberately trigger a brief seizure. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and using muscle relaxants to prevent convulsing during the seizure. ECT is mainly used for the treatment of severe, life-threatening depression and severe postnatal depression.
