    Answer: continually increasing pressure on the unaffected lung.

    In tension pneumothorax, the pressure is so high that it will push surrounding organ like another lung, heart, or blood vessels. Pushing another lung can make it less expandable, so less air can come inside and less oxygen can be gained.

    Pushing heart and blood vessels can also disturb blood circulation.
