    Ozone is formed from precursors such as volatile organic compounds (such as methane), nitrogen oxide, and carbon dioxide. These are produced more by anthropogenic activities. When these compounds react in the atmosphere through the energy from sunlight, they form ozone. One of the reactions that form tropospheric ozone is;

    CO + 2O2 + hν → CO2 + O3
