Rubber is mainly composed hydrogen and carbon atoms. Thus, it can be expected that the type of bonding that will be primarily present in its structure is covalent bonding as well as van der Waals forces amidst individual chains. Covalent bonding occurs when there is sharing of electron pairs between atoms. On the other hand, van der Waals interactions occur due to the closeness of the atoms.
