In caenorhabditis elegans, the level of expression of genes on both x chromosomes of females is reduced by half. what phenomenon is this an example of?

    The phenomenon is dosage compensation. Since sex chromosomes across sexes in species differ by number and type, nature has acquired a way of equalizing expression of these genes in both sexes. In humans, one X chromosome in the females is completely silenced/inactivated while the other is fully transcribed.
