A client diagnosed with a peritonsillar abscess exhibits 4 + tonsils and is not able to eat or drink. what is the nurse's priority concern for this client?

    The top priority for this client is to make sure he is well hydrated. Humans can survive longer without food than without water.

    Alternative sources hydration, as well as nutrition include IV fluids, enteral feedings and parenteral nutrition.

    After the client gets better he can start drinking by himself, eating thin foods and later eating normally.
