In normal people, increased osmolality in the blood will stimulate secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) ... An increase of only 2% to 3% in plasma osmolality will produce a strong desire to drink. A change of 10% to 15% in blood volume and arterial pressure is required to produce the same response.
