Two major hazards which are involved in handling and storing materials may include the weight of materials and bulkiness. Handling bulky and handling heavy objects may result in spinal and back injuries.

Workers that lift heavy objects may suffer from chronic and acute back pains. Certain types of incidents with major hazard facilities can be catastrophic for workers, the environment and to the community.
