A correlation has been found between ozone in the stratosphere and the presence of CFCs but there is no clear identification of the relationship of these two. From research, it was suggested that the presence of CFCs can be related to the decline of the ozone in the stratosphere. CFCs stands for chlorofluorocarbons. These are a group of substances that were developed to be used as a coolant replacing ammonia and sulfur dioxides which are more toxic. When CFCs are in the stratosphere, the UV from the sun can break the bonds in CFC, freeing chlorine. This chlorine is said to potentially destroy an ample amount of ozone which would lead to its depletion.
