    Alcohol abuse increase tolerance to other drugs because:

    Alcohol and other drugs such as barbiturates (drug used for central nervous system depressant) induce proliferation of smooth endoplasmic reticulum. These are associated with detoxification of enzymes and it will increase the rate of detoxification.
