The Indiana bat is an endangered species is a medium size bat which is mouse-eared and is a native of North America. These species live in hardwood-pine forest, crop fields and grasslands. Few conifers are occupied by the Indiana bats as compared to the random stands of alabama. These species hibernate during winter seasons in the caves or in abandoned mines. The requirement for hibernation is humid and cool caves below 50 degree Fahrenheit above freezing. These are insectivores and mainly feed upon the insects. After the winter hibernation period the Indiana bats migrate to woody areas where they live under loose barks or the dead and dying trees.
