Which organisms accomplish most of the work of converting atmospheric nitrogen into a form usable to green plants?

    Bacteria. the free nitrogen from the atmosphere is captured by the nitogen-fixing bacteria and it converts notogen into nitrates and nitrites which is then absrobed by the plants.
