Why do individuals who are anemic generally do not exhibit an increase in respiratory rate or tidal volume, even though their blood is not carrying enough oxygen?

Anemia does not affect the amount of oxygen that is dissolved in the blood in the alveoli of the lungs. In fact, anemia is a symptom of a disease and not a disease in itself. The tidal volume and respiratory rate are not affected because the concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood are not majorly affected. The pH of the blood is still maintained in homoeostasis.
