Brian encounters a male patient and notices that he is wearing a yarmulke. while the patient is in another room undressing, brian comments to the office manager, "i heard they don't eat pork. what kind of a religion doesn't let you eat barbeque ribs

    Presuming that this is someone that I have some sort of a friendly relationship with, I would address Brian's question by explaining that the Jewish faith does not believe in eating pork due to their interpretation of the Old Testament, known as the Torah in their faith. In those passages God directs his followers not to eat pork as it is considered to be an unclean animal. I'd also address the disrespectful manner in which he made the statement and advise him that other religions certainly have a right to believe what they wish, as long as it does not impact other people's lives.
