In the chloroplast, the stroma surrounds each of the thylakoids. the light-dependent reactions take place in the thylakoids and the calvin cycle take place in the stroma. why is the compact structure of the chloroplast ideal for photosynthesis?

    Each plant is made of many plant cells performing photosynthesis. Inside of each of these tiny plant cells are one to hundreds of small structures called chloroplasts.
