Corticosteroids or steroid a synthetic drug that affect all of the major systems of the body, including the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, nervous, and immune systems, and play serious roles in fetal development including the maturation of the fetal lung. Its direct effects are sometimes hard to detached from their compound relationship with other hormones, in part due to the lenient action of low levels of corticosteroid on the effectiveness of other hormones, including catecholamine’s and glucagon. However, the effects of this drug can be categorized into two general categories: the glucocorticoid which includes intermediary metabolism, inflammation, immunity, wound healing, myocardial, and muscle integrity and the mineralocorticoid that includes salt, water, and mineral metabolism. The result ranges from all glucocorticoid and almost no cortisol to all mineralocorticoid and almost no aldosterone which result to a disorder called adrenal insufficiency.
