Why can't btus be converted directly into kilowatts?

    Kilowatts are measure of demand or power with an element of time. BTUs are a measure of energy that do not include time. The conversions would need to include an amount of BTUs used in a specific period of time in order to be able to successfully convert to kilowatts.
