    The PEA plate inhibits the growth of the Gram-negative microorganism, though G - organisms with resistance can still develop, simply no longer thoroughly. The NA plate encourages the growth of all microorganism and acts as a control to ensure that the Gram-negative organisms are still capable of growth.
