What are two reasons that cells divide rather than continue to grow indefinitely?

    Reason 1: if cells grow too big, then they will have more difficulty transporting wastes and nutrients across the cell membrane.

    Reason 2: if the cell grows too big, then it would put a much bigger demand on the DNA than if it were smaller.
