In most plants the organs containing chlorophyll are adapted to capture sunlight for photosynthesis. The parts of a plant are green in color as they contain chlorophyll in the cells which are responsible for the production of nutrients for the plant to survive. In a leaf of any plant the part of leaf exposed to sunlight will be more green compared to the opposite side of it. In some cases, not only leaves but the other green part of the plant also perform photosynthesis. The stem of the cactus in the desert region is the organ that captures sunlight as it contains chlorophyll.
