When the driver hit brakes she felt she was thrown forward. Use one of Newton's laws to explain?

    Newton's first law or law of inertia states that a body will remain at its state of rest or continue moving with uniform speed unless an external force compels it to do otherwise. The car (body) was in motion till the driver hit the brakes (external force) which made her feel like she was thrown forward.
