    I think the most appropriate characteristics are; it is specific to one biochemical reaction and it increases the rate of a biological reaction. The protein only acts on specific substrate and therefore catalyzes specific reactions or acts on specific substrates. The protein decreases the activation energy of the products and also increases the rate of biochemical reaction.
