Pbs mitosis: takes place in nucleus of dividing cell, results in formation of 2 new nuclei each having the same number of chromosomes as the parent nucleus. meiosis: results in number of chromosomes in gamete-producing cells being reduced to 1/2; involves reduction division in which one of each pair of homologous chromosomes passes to each daughter cell.
