Plants are eukaryotic organisms which belong to the kingdom Plantae and have a few unique characteristics.

    · Photosynthetic organisms

Plants are producers or autotrophs meaning that they make their own food. Plants have chloroplasts, the organelle of photosynthesis, the process by which they capture the energy of the sun and use CO2 from the air to produce the carbohydrate glucose (and thus, energy).

    · Organelles

Plants have membrane-bound organelles different than those found in other organisms like vacuoles, plastids with chlorophyll, cell wall (some of these structures might be found in fungi).

Also, plants are usually sessile, have alternation of generations, movement in response to light or touch.
