In girls, the main hormone that starts to be highly expressed is estrogen and progesterone while in males, testosterone. This is triggered by the hypothalamus that releases gonadotrophic-releasing hormones (GnRH). GnRH then triggers the pituitary to release LH (Luteinizing Hormone) and FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) that act on the gonads (ovaries in females and testis in male)

The body controls this process of puberty through release of hormones, leutenizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone for the development and maturity of the testes and sperm cells. also androgens will be released and are responsible for the male secondary sexual characteristics such as breaking vice and hair presence under the armpits and the pubic area
