    Well, cnidarian would be located in the water, of course, and not only this, but based on my research, this kind of invertebrate animal would be located in the (fresh water) which would change a lot of areas in this aspect. I believe that it would actually be the following sentence as it would read: "a cnidarian, because it was collected in shallow salt water". I've read that salt water, can actually make you loss your skin, your gills, and other parts in the body of an animal such as a cnidarian. And which this would be the reason to why I would think this. And because of this, knowing this kind of animal, this would then make this animal want to have a gut, and a cavity and so on.
