Well, homeostasis is the process of regulating and maintaining the "internal environment". Otherwise known as the (stable) conditions of an organism's environment. Because of homeostasis, organisms are more than often capable of adapting to the changes around them. For example, if a cell's environment changes rather abruptly, the cell's conditions are regularly disrupted; though only briefly. In response, an organism detects these specific changes and reacts opposingly according to the change to its environment. Similarly, when you are cold your skin grows goosebumps and/or you begin to shiver to retain your body's heat within cold climates. However, when a cell fails to sustain homeostasis, diseases and various of unfortunate events are more than likely to occur, and if homeostasis is not restored, the organism will encounter death. Cells depend upon the environment of the body to live, thrive, and function (properly). Furtherly, cells depend on enzymes to advance the process of the several chemical reactions and changes that keep cells alive and capable of performing their jobs for the body. Moreover, in the depth of enzymes, they operate best in maintaining temperatures within (everything or most) of the body. In summary, if homeostasis is not maintained, enzyme function will be affected because everything within our body greatly depends upon the means of homeostasis. Without homeostasis, enzymes will no longer be able to support constant temperatures within us; nor will they be equipped to aid cells in their jobs for the body or itself.

Homeostasis keeps the body environment under control and keeps the conditions right for cells to live and function. Without the right body conditions, certain processes (eg osmosis) and proteins (eg enzymes) will not function properly.
