Natural selection is the process by which favorable traits tend to increase in frequency over time

    This is true, this happens because those with favorable traits are able to go on and reproduce while the weak ones die off and cannot reproduce. The resulting off spring will carry more favorable traits and the cycle continues until either the animal conqours the environment and becomes the apex predator (humans) or the species die off (dinosaurs)
