The above statement is true. the body experiences two metabolic state; the absorptive metabolic state (it lasts for around four hours) which is the period immediately after a meal, when nutrients are taken in through the intestinal wall into the circulatory and lymphatic systems. The other state is the post absorptive state which is the time that has elapsed since the person has taken in food and the changes in their body's energy processing.
